We run our league on ESPN. All you have to do is create an account on ESPN to participate. ESPN also has an app dedicated to the FFL as well to make things easier when on the run. We will run a live snake draft a couple of weeks before the season. I will post the rules here in a second.

Ok, so for everyone who has never played FFL or hasn’t played in a while, this is my rundown of how it works, scoring, and draft strategies…

    BASICS:

After everyone joins and we all agree on a date and time for the draft, we will have a “snake draft.” What this means is, the order will be randomized and the first round will be ordered 1-10 and the next round will be ordered 10-1. Then 1-10 and 10-1 and so on. You will be drafting one player per round. The players you draft don’t have to all be from the same team, or even the same conference. You can have a player from every team if you would like. More on draft strategies later…

    UNDERSTAND SCORING:

For this league, we will be only using Offensive positions and a team defense/special teams combo. No specific defensive player will be chosen, instead you will pick the Colts, for example, and scoring for defense/special teams will be scored as a whole, not per player. Scoring breakdown per position is as follows:

    QB (Quarterback):

    Every 1 yard of passing = .04 point (25 yds = 1 pt)

Every touchdown pass = 4 points

Every interception thrown = -2 points

Every 2 point conversion pass completed = 2 points

Every time he is sacked = -1 point

*RB points also apply here if QB runs the ball himself

    RB (Running Back):

Every 1 rushing (running) yard = 0.1 points (will also be negative points if he loses yards)

    Every TD = 6 points

Every 2 point conversion completion = 2 points

*WR points also apply here if RB gets passed to

    WR (Wide Reciever):

Every 1 receiving yard = 0.1 points (will also be negative points if he loses yards)

Every TD reception = 6 points

Every 2 point conversion completion = 2 points

    TE (Tight End):

Every 1 receiving yard = 0.1 points (will also be negative points if he loses yards)

Every TD reception = 6 points

Every 2 point conversion completion = 2 points

D/ST (Defense/Special Teams): *Team will start every matchup with 10 points

Sack the opposing QB = 1 pt

TD scored by interception, fumble, kickoff, punt or a blocked kick = 6 pts

    Interception = 2 pts

    Fumble recovered = 2 pts

    Safety forced = 2 pts

    Points scored against:

    `0 = 5 pts

    `1-6 = 4 pts

    `7-13 = 3 pts

    `14-17 = 1 pt

    `18-27 = 0 pts

    `28-34 = -1 pt

    `35-45 = -3 pts

    `46+ = -5 pts

    Total yards allowed:

    `Less than 100 = 5 pts

    `100-199 = 3pts

    `200-299 = 2pts

    `300-349 = -1 pt

    `350-399 = -1 pt

    `400-499 = -3 pts

    `500-549 = -5 pts

    `500+ = -6 pts

    K (Kicker):

Extra point kick made = 1 pt

Each missed field goal = -1 pt

    Field goal made 0-39yds = 3 pts

    Field goal made 40-49yds = 4 pts

Field goal made 50+ yds = 5 pts

    DRAFTING:

Each week you will be starting 9 players and have 7 players sitting on your “bench” (not counting towards your score). You will start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 RB or WR in the RB/WR slot, 1 TE, 1 D/ST, and 1 K. When drafting you can only draft so many of each position as follows:

    QB – 4

    RB – 8

    WR – 8

    TE – 3

    D/ST – 3

    K – 3

    DRAFT STRATEGIES:

Once the draft starts there are multiple different strategies as who to draft and in what order to draft them in. The most common strategy I’ve seen is for the first 3-6 rounds people will draft only RB or WR (half and half). Then on to QB and the rest to follow… Obviously some people would rather have a good QB earlier on and will take one in the 3rd or 4th round.

Another thing to look at when drafting is each players bye week, what this means is this player doesn’t have a game on that week, therefore he won’t score you any points that given week. So if you have 3 RBs on your team and they all have a bye week of 6, you won’t be able to play any RBs that week and will miss out on a lot of points. So if you can, try to mix up your bye weeks per position (and even on your whole team if you can).

Who to pick if you don’t know anything about NFL? In the draft, the choices will default to the order “smart people” think players should be chosen in and you can base it off of that. It will also tell you all kinds of statistics next to each name as well like estimated points in the 2015 season etc. If you’ve chosen to may RB and it keeps suggesting RBs, you can also select the drop down and choose a specific position and it will show you only players who fit that position.

Next to each player’s name in the list, there could be a notepad icon or a red flag, or some other icons. You can move your mouse over these icons and it will tell you information about that player, such as statistics from their last game, or if they are suspended, etc.

    WHEN SEASON STARTS:

Ok, at this point, you will have already drafted your team and know who all of your players are. Each week you will need to get on and make sure you have the players you want to play that week in your starting lineup. When you go to your roster, it will show you each players projected score for that week and will tell you if they don’t play that week as well. This is when you’d need to replace that player with another one from your bench.

Each week the waiver wire (picking up players who aren’t on anyone else’s team) will open up and you can select to pick up new players if one of yours gets hurt or just isn’t performing like you’d like. The order of who gets to pick will be assigned by the standings, eg. The person in last will have first pick, then second to last and so on.

You are also able to trade with another team. Everyone will get an email stating that a trade has been proposed and will have 2 days to vote if the trade should be allowed or not. If you don’t respond it counts that as you don’t mind, but if so many people vote no, the trade won’t go through. This is to stop someone giving up halfway through the season and giving all their good players to someone else.

Ok, I think I covered the basics and a lot of the advanced as well lol. I’m sure more things will come up throughout the season, but for now, this should give you a good start…

Ok so @Cruel-Phate @dubya @muth @kelli @InMyImage @Byter @Blue1 @Dawn the time has came again to start thinking about Fantasy Football League. Are you all still in? Also, since I haven't been around for a while I will leave it up to you guys to do the recruiting for more people if need be!

Hey @dubya as my fellow member with multiple FFL leagues, which way would you prefer playoffs? Others feel free to give an opinion as well if you fell you understand :)

4 team winners bracket: top 4 teams of 13 game regular season play each other. Seed 1 plays Seed 4 and Seed 2 plays Seed 3 in a two week, first round total, winners move on to play each other in a two week championship total match. Other teams would of course be playing each other as well so they wouldn't be sitting there for those 4 weeks doing nothing, but they would be playing for 5-10 spots, not the top. This is currently how I've got it set up and how we've played in the past.

8 team winners bracket: top 8 teams of 14 game regular season play each other. Seed 1 plays Seed 8 (and so on) in a single week, first round total, winners move on to play a single week round 2, winners move on to play a single week championship round. This would mean the bottom two teams wouldn't have a chance at spots 1-8.

10 team winners bracket: all 10 teams of 14 game regular season would be in the running for all spots. Top 6 seeds after a 13 week regular season would get a bye (not have a match first round) and bottom 4 teams would play each other in a single week round one. Winners and bye games would move on to round two and finish out the playoffs in single week matches.

Also, I changed the passing yards points from 1 point every 25 yds to .04 points every 1 yard. I always hated when my QB had say 199 yards passing and only had 7 points instead of 8 if he had another yard. So now he would have 7.96 points instead of 7.
